For the first class: Students can choose which class to attend (see descriptions below). In the first class, the teacher will decide which level is best for them.

 


Walnut West Community PEDAL has three class levels. Which is right for you?

The Community PEDAL Level 1 Class is for English learners...

  • Who can engage in simple conversation in American English about familiar topics (such as self, family).
  • Who use mostly basic words or short phrases to communicate in American English.
  • Whose spoken English is difficult for proficient American English speakers to understand.

The Community PEDAL Level 2 Class is for English learners…

  • Who feel comfortable engaging in short conversations in American English about familiar topics and can communicate occasionally about unfamiliar topics.
  • Who can understand and produce sentences and able to use questions to start and continue conversations.
  • Who understand and use high frequency and personalized vocabulary for general topics such as work, school, or daily life.
  • Whose spoken English is sometimes difficult for proficient American English speakers to understand.

The Community PEDAL Level 3 Class is for English learners…

  • Who are comfortable talking for longer conversations on familiar and new concrete topics (social, academic, and work related) with proficient American English speakers.
  • Who understand and use a range of vocabulary for general and specialized topics.
  • Whose spoken English is usually easy for proficient American English speakers to understand.
